It´s been a surprise for many when Tom Cruise called the Norwegian Minister of Culture Abid Raja in July 2020. He was asking for permission to come to Norway and start filming the new Mission Impossible 7.
We have to remember that it was deep in "Corona (Covid-19) time". The minister did not hesitate a minute to make the "Mission Possible" and by the end of August were both, the team and one week later Tom Cruise here.
It is not a secret that Tom Cruise likes Norway. He had filmed at Preikestolen some years ago. This time, the film producents chose Møre and Romsdal.
The stab counted about 400 people, whereof half was international and the other half Norwegian employees. All were accommodated at Hurtigruten ships that were parked in harbours due to the corona situation.
The filming was taking place in Hellesylt (Geirangerfjrd area) and Åndalsnes. Therefore one part of the team stayed at the MS Fridtjof Nansen ship in Hellesylt and the other part stayed at MS Vesterålen in Åndalsnes. The last week(s) of filming, all were gathered in Åndalsnes.
The same with the Orient Express train that was an inseparable part of the action.
The film production has booked the airspace between Åndalsnes and Bjorli for a couple of weeks in September. You can be sure there was a lot of action around Trollveggen!
Due to bad weather, was the filming prolonged til end of September.
Don't forget to come to the movies for Mission Impossible #7 to see the most beautiful parts of western Norway!
For a couple of weeks, Åndalsnes has been transformed into a village called Vestvik. That´s
where the story of the new thriller series in German-Norwegian co-production takes place. The old building of Montér was the "interior" part of filming. Exteriors were shot on several places around. The next stops will be Oslo and Berlin.
The huge success of the first edition of the reality-show Kompani Lauritzen (on TV spring 2020) brought back the program leaders Dag Otto Lauritzen and Kristian Ødegård till Setnesmoa in Åndalsnes with a new group of celebrities. How did they deal with their challenges, you could watch on TV during springtime 2021.
There is already a number of movies and/or documents that were filmed in Møre og Romsdal. Here are a few of them:
